He earned a PhD in Statistics from UC Berkeley and a Masters in Mathematics from Columbia University. He is the Founding Director of Data Science at the College of Charleston, an interdisciplinary program combining statistics, mathematics, computer science, machine learning, information theory, optimization, and artificial intelligence in order to glean valuable and actionable information from data and data-generating systems.

In addition to Jim's academic career, he was the Lead Consultant for Data Science and Predictive Analytics at CompuCom, a leading IT outsourcing specialist.

Jim was President and Founder of STATIS, a computer-intensive statistical research and software development firm and Senior Analyst at Daniel H. Wagner Associates, an R&D think tank in Silicon Valley.

Nicholas Boumal

Nicolas has 10 years of experience in research in data science, with a focus on the theory and practice of optimization, statistics and numerical analysis. He joined the mathematics department at Princeton University in 2016, where he is an assistant professor.

Since 2013, he leads the development of Manopt: an award-winning software package for optimization used in hundreds of studies, with notable applications in machine learning, robotics and signal processing. In recent years, he collaborated on several projects aimed at improving the image processing aspects of cryo-electron microscopy: a modern modality to understand the three-dimensional structure of molecules, key to drug development and the advancement of life sciences.

Christopher Bader

Christopher Bader, Ph.D., has 20 years of experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computational linguistics. He served in senior technical positions at Kurzweil Computer Products, Xerox, and Microsoft.
